If you suffer from dental anxiety, you’re not alone. Many people feel the same way you do when they sit in the dental chair. Fortunately, there are things you can do to have a more relaxed and comfortable dental experience at Bear River Dental. Our dentist, Dr. Nathan Lester, is happy to tell you all about them because he wants you to have the best dental appointments possible. Those coping tips include:

-Speak up: Tell our dental team that you’re nervous and anxious. The more we know about how you feel, the better. That way we can cater to your needs and take extra measures to make sure you feel more comfortable during the treatment.

-Distract yourself: Bring music, your favorite movie, a stress ball, or even a fidget spinner to distract you during your treatment. This can help take your mind off of what’s going on and it might even help you relax and have a little bit of fun.

-Use calming techniques: Sometimes counting your breaths calms the nerves you feel. You can do this while you’re waiting for your appointment or during your treatment. You can also do a full-body scan. Just focus on one muscle in your body at a time and work on relaxing it. Start with your head and end with your toes.
